David has farmed pigs at Egypt Farm since 1976. A hundred Sow herd was established producing weaner pigs for sale (ten weeks of age).

In the early 1980's additional buildings were built in order to take all the progeny to Bacon weight (100Kgs liveweight).

In 1999 the breeding herd was disbanded and weaners were purchased to grow to Bacon weight.

In 2002 the decision was taken to quit commercial pig farming, economies of scale were, and still are getting bigger. It was impossable to compete with cheaper imported pork.

From 2002 we have been niche marketing Pork, Sausages & Bacon.

We now purchase twenty very high quality weaner pigs every six weeks from a farm run by Essex County Council. These are procured for us by Anglia Quality Meat.

The pigs are fed on a very high quality bespoke pig cereal diet procured by the Wynnstay group and made by Noble Foods.

For circa six years David was Chairman of the National Farmers Union, Kent & East Sussex pigs committee.
